Domestic Energy & Manufacturing

Creating permanent, highly-skilled, local manufacturing and engineering jobs.

A U.S. first-of-a-kind installation integrating the production of ammonia, liquid nitrogen, and dispatchable electric power, all utilizing hydrogen. The hydrogen is produced through an air separation unit and a partial oxidation methane reformer, with carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) sequestering CO2 in a Class VI well.

Overview

Site Information

The Piketon site brings together rare infrastructure, power, and community support to move quickly from concept to construction.

  • Extensive infrastructure from uranium gaseous diffusion operations
  • Multiple connection points to 765KV transmission system with 4 gigawatts of capacity
  • Existing right of way throughout the site, including natural gas
  • Two rail spurs for transporting raw materials and finished products
  • Water (40M gal/day) and fiber network installed throughout site
  • Thorough environmental studies from prior use to reduce unknowns and speed permitting
  • Consultant work indicates high potential for carbon sequestration
  • Highly trained workforce in the local area
  • Strong local community support including County Commissioners, Township leadership, and Trades
Reindustrialization & Reinvestment

An engine for the southern Ohio economy

Reindustrialization and reinvestment activities are focused on developing an integrated, closed-loop manufacturing facility that uses an all-of-the-above energy strategy to generate clean power and hydrogen, expand industry, create jobs, and grow the southern Ohio economy.
